A feel-good place

Since 1 August 2013, children between the ages of one and three have had a legal right to early childhood education in a day care centre. Irrespective of how close such childcare places might be to where you live, or whether you should start thinking about your childcare options during your pregnancy, in ARBERLAND young parents can choose from 41 affordable day care centres – and even book them at short notice.

FAMILY-FRIENDLY REGION OF ARBERLAND – CHILDCARE

The “Family-Friendly Region of ARBERLAND” website contains useful contact persons and information in the district of Regen, organised so all ages will find what they’re looking for. Alongside useful links on childcare, you will also find web pages and contacts that will be helpful if you are looking for advice or information around financial support, recreation and leisure, health, legal matters, schools and education.

HOME/ FAMILY CHILD DAY CARE

Home/ family child day care is provided within a family setting, where typically one childminder will look after a maximum of five children. Home/ family child day care arrangements in the child's own home or other suitable rooms provide the kind of flexible childcare that can cater to each child's individual needs. You can find lots more useful information and a list of qualified child day care providers in your area on the website of the district of Regen.

FAMILY MENTORS

The German Association for the Protection of Children, Kinderschutzbund Regen-Viechtach e.V., offers support to needy families. Family mentors provide support in everyday situations, helping with childcare, doing shopping, or driving family members to doctor's appointments or government offices.

VOLUNTEER FOSTER GRANDPARENTS

The association, Kolpingsfamilie Regen e.V., organises a volunteer foster grandparent programme to support parents. This extra help is given by volunteer senior citizens and intended to complement the work of home/ family child day care, preschools and schools. The volunteer foster grandparent programme provides care and recreational and leisure activities for children aged between 3 and 14, typically for half a day a week. These may include assisting with craft activities, playing games, reading stories, or even excursions. It is entirely up to the family and the foster grandparents to decide what exactly they do.

You can find more information and relevant contact details on the Kolpingsfamilie Regen website.
