The district of Regen has the strongest crafts and skilled trades tradition in eastern Bavaria, and nowhere does this occupational group run more businesses. 6,030 employees in around 1,496 companies generate annual sales of around €640m.

JOBS DAHOAM –CRAFTS AND SKILLED TRADES

On the “Jobs dahoam” online portal, you will find current job vacancies at companies in the crafts and skilled trades in the Bavarian Forest region along with apprenticeship and internship jobs. In the “Industry” search box, you can choose a craft/ skilled trade category to browse the companies and job vacancies in this area. The portal also provides a short profile and relevant contact information for each company.

DUAL STUDIES LEADING TO A CRAFT OR SKILLED TRADE

130 regulated professions/ apprenticeship careers: When trying to decide which craft/ skilled trade to learn, there is so much choice that a final decision is not always easy. To make things easier, the web page called “Das Handwerk – Die Wirtschaftsmacht. Von Nebenan.” (“The crafts/ skilled trades – economic power. From next door.”) lists all of the 130 regulated professions/ apprenticeship careers and provides useful information on the contents and structure of the respective dual study programmes. You can even get an idea of what your day-to-day work might look like by watching short, informative videos, or have fun with the “job checker” finding out which jobs might best match your strengths and individual preferences.

REGEN STATE VOCATIONAL SCHOOL

Staatliche Berufsschule Regen offers vocational training in crafts and skilled trades specializing in three subject areas: wood, metal and business & administration. Students can study to become a carpenter, joiner, industrial mechanic, automotive mechatronics technician, engineer for sanitary, heating and air-conditioning systems, or to work in office management, dialogue marketing, retail or e-commerce.

A CRAFT OR SKILLED TRADE WITH AN “ABITUR” DIPLOMA

Students who have finished school with an “Abitur” diploma qualifying them for university studies, but have had enough of academic work, can put ideas into practice and look forward to great career opportunities in the crafts and skilled trades. The crafts and skilled trades web page, “Das Handwerk”, summarizes the opportunities and advantages associated with learning a craft or skilled trade for students with an “Abitur” diploma.

Straight from school, while studying or mid-career: all sorts of paths lead to a career in a craft or skilled trade. The decision to pursue a career in a craft or skilled trade also marks the start of your search for the right training place and the best employer.
