Leading edge technology

Alongside its focus on the crafts and skilled trades, tourism and glassmaking, the district of Regen has become a forward-looking technology hub over the past few decades. For example, ARBERLAND accounts for over half of Lower Bavaria’s optics and precision mechanics jobs and a fifth of electronics jobs. Other key industries include plastics manufacturing, glass manufacturing, mechanical and plant engineering and metalworking.

As a technology region, ARBERLAND is home to global market leaders such as Linhardt, Rehau, Qioptiq, Rohde & Schwarz and Zwiesel Kristallglas. There are also fast-growing medium-sized enterprises and smaller owner-run businesses that are pioneers of innovation and technological leaders in their fields, otherwise known as “hidden champions”. This successful development has been stimulated by close collaboration with the scientific community in eastern Bavaria. Whether you are at the start of your career or have work experience, our technology-driven companies offer a wide spectrum of career opportunities – ranging from training places and dual study options to entry level positions and brand new career challenges.
