HOTELBERUFSSCHULE VIECHTACH

At the vocational school for the hospitality sector in Viechtach, you can lay the foundations for a career in ARBERLAND’s hotel and restaurant trade. The school has produced numerous successful graduates, some of whom have also made a name for themselves outside the district. Students can study to become system catering experts, restaurant specialists, cooks/ chefs, hotel professionals, hotel managers and hospitality sector specialists. They can also gain an additional qualification in international hotel management and acquire the intermediate school-leaving qualification (with a grade point average of 3.00 or better) and an English certificate. A boarding house is attached to the school, as the catchment area extends as far as Bogen, Cham, Deggendorf and Freyung-Grafenau. Students can not only expect to receive an excellent education, but also take part in a wide range of extracurricular activities.

Tourismusförderung Arberland is a modern provider of tourism services with a wide variety of responsibilities, ranging from state-of-the-art marketing and public relations to professional service management and a whole array of other special functions. The staff at Tourism Promotion have embraced the concept of modern “tourism of the heart” and work closely with the government offices, providers of tourism services, hotels, guest houses, clubs, societies and other organisations to ensure that guests feel comfortable in ARBERLAND before they even start their vacation. The Bavarian division of the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA) represents hotel and restaurant businesses throughout Bavaria. BAVARIAN FOREST NATIONAL PARK

Together with the neighbouring Šumava National Park in the Czech Republic, Nationalpark Bayerischer Wald forms the largest contiguous area of forest in Central Europe. This major nature reserve is administered by the Bavarian Forest National Park Authority, a special agency in the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Consumer Protection. The area around the Großer Arber mountain, otherwise known as the “King of the Bavarian Forest”, is not only a popular destination for hiking and winter sports enthusiasts, but also an attractive employer. The Fürstlich Hohenzollernsche ARBER-BERGBAHN e.K. is a modern company with a history of tradition that owns the local cable car, is one of the largest restaurant businesses in the Bavarian Forest and has activities in various other sectors.
