At the vocational school for the hospitality sector in Viechtach, you can lay the foundations for a career in ARBERLAND’s hotel and restaurant trade. The school has produced numerous successful graduates, some of whom have also made a name for themselves outside the district. Students can study to become system catering experts, restaurant specialists, cooks/ chefs, hotel professionals, hotel managers and hospitality sector specialists. They can also gain an additional qualification in international hotel management and acquire the intermediate school-leaving qualification (with a grade point average of 3.00 or better) and an English certificate. A boarding house is attached to the school, as the catchment area extends as far as Bogen, Cham, Deggendorf and Freyung-Grafenau. Students can not only expect to receive an excellent education, but also take part in a wide range of extracurricular activities.

Together with the neighbouring Šumava National Park in the Czech Republic, Nationalpark Bayerischer Wald forms the largest contiguous area of forest in Central Europe. This major nature reserve is administered by the Bavarian Forest National Park Authority, a special agency in the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Consumer Protection.
